The next morning Heidi wakes up to an empty house and thinks she made her grandfather leave. Peter arrives and takes Heidi to see the mountains. She asks him what he does when he is afraid, “Voice of the Mountain.” When Heidi goes back to the cabin she is met with a very angry and worried Adolf.

The next day, Heidi meets Peter’s grandmother Anna and they reminisce about Adolf’s son Tobias and how he used to call him Knodel. Heidi remembers the tune as he used to sing it to her, “Knodel.” The next scene takes place in the village church where towards the end of the sermon Adolf and Heidi walk in, “We Beseech Thee Lord” As Heidi leaves she says goodbye to Pastor Shultz and Frau Shultz (Fraulein Meinholtz) with a giggle (They are not married), together they sing “Rumor Has It”.
