Show Synopsis

The show tells the “vibrant, true story of the unique, edgy and glamorous island lifestyle of the 1900s.”

The plot follows Sicilian brothers, Salvatore and Rosario Maceo, searching for the American Dream. They arrive in Galveston, the little New York, and secure the only job they know, being barbers. But when Prohibition is passed the brothers quickly moved into bootlegging and controlling liquor distribution—and a world-class entertainment scene—at the island’s famous Balinese Room and across the island.

CAST of CHARACTERS

Sam Maceo (late 20’s) – Tenor, top note high Ab. – able to really charm/croon/smooth – extremely handsome – charmer-Dapper Dan style

Rose Maceo( late 20’s /early 30’s) – Baritone, high note Eb/F – more solid in his presentation – more manly handsome – with a rougher edge

Sedge (Edna Sedgewick) (Late 20’s) – Belter/Mix, Bb/C – singer/dancer – star of her traveling Vaudeville act

Frances Dispensa (Late 20’s/30)  – Belt/Mix, Bb – more soft toned, quiet, unworldly presentation, though NOT a push over

Reverend Peterson (age 30 – 40) – Minister of the Biggest Church in town

Miss Pucksford (age 30 – 40)– an over zealous church lady who thinks Rev. Peterson walks on water

Deacon – another zealot – later becomes the Attorney Generals.

Attorney General Jones/Smith/Brown (age 30 – 40) – Baritone top note Eb

Ensemble: 10 men and 10 women.  Must be able to sing and move well.
